Yoko is an American of Japanese heritage, a traveler, and ballet dancer who enjoys sharing her knowledge of art and dance with young students.
Yoko Flory is an experienced, multi-certified teacher, specializing in Montessori and art-centered education methods. Born and raised on Long Island, Yoko is a dedicated educator who was first exposed to the Montessori philosophy as a Montessori child in a 3-6 Primary classroom. Due to her childhood experience, her desire to learn more about the Montessori philosophy developed into fruition while studying at Teachers College, Columbia University. She enjoy teaching and observing young minds develop through the learning process. She has 14 years of experience as a lead teacher in a Montessori elementary classroom, 12 of those in a public school. She is always seeking to expand her knowledge of the Montessori and general education philosophies. Over recent years, by necessity of many travels, Yoko has taken advantage of studying other methods and styles of teaching in countries abroad. Yoko’s other interest is the art of dance. Since her youth, Yoko has studied the disciplined art of classical ballet.
