MS. ERIN BORIS

HQ, THE SCHOOL HOUSE

MS in Nonprofit Administration, MA in History, BA in Anthropology and History, Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED Certified, 7 years of experience in education

Erin is a local historian, children's author, ocean-lover, and rescue dog mom, who aims to foster a love of learning in children.

Erin has always been driven by the desire to learn about the world around her; since she was little, she has loved museums, zoos, aquariums, documentaries, books, and science fairs! As she got older, she began to study the past as a way to understand the present. While studying anthropology and history at Stony Brook University, she undertook archaeological fieldwork up north in Connecticut and out west in the Western Great Basin. She loved explaining her discoveries to the local communities- and especially to the children who visited the site! While working on her graduate degrees, she began working in local maritime museums as an educator. These experiences gave Erin the chance to create and present inquiry and artifact based lessons to students from ages 3 to 93. She pursued her passion for writing and education by authoring a children's book and a series of articles about Long Island based historical topics. Erin developed her educational leadership skills by running a local tutoring center, where she developed a passion for individualized learning.
