EDUCATOR IN TRAINING

Compassion, empathy, and dedication are among the core attributes behind Giordana Scanni and the foundation of her goals in educating the lives of others. Giordana always felt she could build a strong and unique connection with any child she has worked with. She was known as the neighborhood babysitter since she was only 14 years old. When Giordana attended Bard college she took an extensive number of courses in child development. These courses quickly struck a chord in her, and motivated her to invest more time in this discipline; she would often find herself going above and beyond the curriculum purely out of curiosity. Giordana was a student athlete who played for the Bard women’s soccer team, while also babysitting two different families during the week.

While attending Bard college, she had the opportunity to intern as a Dialectical Behavioral Therapist (DBT) for children between the ages of 8 and 13 years old. Through this experience, Giordana facilitated mindfulness and creative thinking among her patients. When Giordana graduated in May of 2022 with her Bachelor’s in Psychology, she received her first teaching position as a Teacher Aide for children with special needs. Here, it was far more than a teacher role to her. She gained a deep, personal fulfillment in knowing she was shaping children’s lives in a way that will carry beyond their education. Giordana believes that with her passion for working with children, she can open new doors, and introduce ideas that pique interest in any child’s life.
